What always drives me nuts about following program and tracking is that I ultimately know what to do, but just don't remember to do what I know to do. It's a hind-sight is 20/20 thing. Here's an example of what I mean. First, check out The 7 Rules of Healthy Fast Food. Every one of those rules are things I do all the time but for some reason today I didn't. With the work crowd today we went to Chili's and I ordered one of the lunch combos. 27 PPV total. By simply getting my half sandwich without sauce and asking that the sandwich be grilled without butter and leaving off the cheese I could have saved 10 PPV easy. Those simple adjustments would have allowed for my awesome steamed broccoli and steamed chicken breast Chinese dinner within my DPT instead of using my WPP. Definitely a budgeting lesson.88|

By request here is the list of
"The Top Ten Ways to Cut Costs While Cutting Calories"
Might I add it has been proven that these kind of lists can truly make a difference. Want to know what I mean? Check here and here.

1. Make a list - No impulse buying, saves time, essentials are in your food storage areas when you need them.

2. Think Filling Foods - More water, air, fiber, or protein means more filling and food satisfaction. Most are found around the outside perimeter of the store so you avoid calorie dense and more pricey processed foods.

3. BYO - Bring your own. Lunch, dinner, whatever. The Lunch Savings Calculator motivates!

4. Buy bulk - Doesn't matter if it's at the big box store or sale items at your local store. The longer it sets on the shelf the savings go down. Produce becomes science experiment very quickly.

5. Raid the freezer or go canned - Longer shelf life, smaller cost, same quality.

6. Be a bean counter - One pound lean ground beef $6.00. One can of black beans $0.75.

7. DIY - Do It Yourself. Time shift your food preparation to take advantage of bulk savings, avoid the premium prices of prepared foods, and still eat well and quickly.

8. Buy in season - Well? Duh!

9. Patrol portions - If the recipe serves four, make sure it does. See number 3 above. Need more food? see number 2.

10. Clip coupons - These are money substitutes with an expiration date so pay attention.

It was believed that Weight Watchers incrEdible Rewards was closing, not so, for a while anyway. Weight Watchers IncrEdible Rewards has been extended until December 31, 2009! You can earn points for all your Weight Watchers brand purchases from the grocery store as well as in meeting room food products. If you don't want to do it, I am accepting contributions! Only 1,160 points and that iPod is mine. (p.s. I don't want your yogurt containers, my car already has a funny smell that for the life of me I can't find. I'm just saying....but seriously, I'll take everything else!)

Get well soon!

So, I was sick yesterday. I am better, thanks! I'm attributing my quick recovery to my flu shot. It was definitely flu as I had a fever and sore joints--generally miserable. I was down for the count. My appetite wasn't. Anyone else want to eat when you are ill? I have no Points Allowance Points left for the week and the week started yesterday. I think this will be more of a challenge than Thanksgiving was! I started a "new" 3-month Journal last week that will help.

After losing seventy-six pounds in 1997 with the Weight Watchers program, I became a meeting leader. These are my personal tips, challenges and helps in hopes they will help others choosing to create their own "healthy lifestyle" that includes weight loss as a goal. What I mean by that is that anything contained in this blog is my own opinion and in no way reflects the opinions of Weight Watchers of North America, Inc. and that for the most current and accurate information on Weight Watchers you should attend a meeting or visit http://www.weightwatchers.com.
