Set Goals
Do you really think those things you called resolutions that didn't pan out in the past really were? Well, you are wrong!

2. a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.
3. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.
4. the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.
5. the act or process of resolving or separating into constituent or elementary parts.
6. the resulting state.

Ok, well maybe you qualified under meaning number 2 for like five minutes. The problem is you forgot to use your determination to list for yourself the process or steps necessary to actually achieve your purpose. What you meant was "wish". A longing for something that you hope will by some undetermined source be bestowed upon you in some hereto for unspecified manner in a way that does not require you to consider for evaluation or for possible action upon or removal of your posterior from the dent in the couch in front of your electronic apparatus that receives signals, reproducing images on a screen, and typically reproducing accompanying sound signals on speakers.

In an article online at MSN called Fix Your Worst Diet Habits I was immediately struck by the word "Duh". Ok, I'm not being fair. Maybe people haven't heard of Weight Watchers. Maybe they are better at figuring out the "how to" than I am. At any rate, do I agree with the list? Yes. I would say these four things are high on the list of obstacles to our weight loss success.

Bad habit: Skipping meals
Bad habit: Eating out all the time
Bad habit: Using food as comfort
Bad habit: Eating when you're not hungry

On skipping meals, eat something as soon as possible after awaking. Anything. Let the idea of breakfast food go. Food is food. I like sandwiches to break my fast after a restful sleep. On eating out all the time, well I agree with what the article says. Personal schedules and lifestyle are not addressed. I think the issue is how we eat out not that we eat out. It's next weeks topic. ;) On using food as comfort, well can you say "this weeks topic"? You may recognize that the article is describing the use of The Reframing Tool. On eating when you are not hungry, well

...assess your hunger level.

Quick, name three Filling Foods you enjoy. I'm sure you know the Chart in your trakker is just one way to do this right?

I'm glad I chose Weight Watchers, we've always got the tools for weight loss success.

After losing seventy-six pounds in 1997 with the Weight Watchers program, I became a meeting leader. These are my personal tips, challenges and helps in hopes they will help others choosing to create their own "healthy lifestyle" that includes weight loss as a goal. What I mean by that is that anything contained in this blog is my own opinion and in no way reflects the opinions of Weight Watchers of North America, Inc. and that for the most current and accurate information on Weight Watchers you should attend a meeting or visit http://www.weightwatchers.com.
