On Tuesday, just as the snow was beginning to fall, I read an article on Encarta:
Verbs Gone Wild: Are We Taking Too Many Liberties with Language?
The article discusses the practice of verbing, taking a noun and using it as a verb.
Yesterday, I over heard a member ask her friend, "Are you pointing that donut you had for breakfast?" Well, of course she is! She attends one of my meetings and understands the importance of pointing everything you eat and drink! Then it hit me, POINT, POINTS, or POINTS values (WEIGHT WATCHERS and POINTS are the registered trademarks of Weight Watchers International, Inc. ) when used as a verb can be both the action of determining the points value of a food, or the tracking of said previously pointed food item. What fun! Let's use it in a sentence shall we?
Before eating anything, Patty points the POINTS after pointing them, especially something as indulgent as a doughnut.
By the way, I did spell the pastry in question two ways just for kicks.![]()

So, I was sick yesterday. I am better, thanks! I'm attributing my quick recovery to my flu shot. It was definitely flu as I had a fever and sore joints--generally miserable. I was down for the count. My appetite wasn't. Anyone else want to eat when you are ill? I have no Points Allowance Points left for the week and the week started yesterday. I think this will be more of a challenge than Thanksgiving was! I started a "new" 3-month Journal last week that will help.
